“Bro” Wagner started the band in 1945. The band quickly gained popularity and was soon playing for many notable ethnic clubs in the Chicagoland area including Jolly Burgenlanders, Rosegger-Steirer Club, Almrausch, Austrian Social Club, Edelweiss Schuplattler Verien-Chicago, Chicago Steirer Club at the Steirer Alm in Lilly Lake, and was a mainstay at Ringbauer's Hall.
